 Sawmill Meadow Knob

August 31 – September 2 (Sat-Mon)
Glass Mountain Car Camp (S)
Inyo National Forest, Mono County

The Glass Mountain Range is southeast of Mono Lake and about ten miles west of Benton Hot Springs. Glass Mountain is part of the Long Valley Caldera and is surrounded by lava domes and obsidian flows. It is the area high point with scenic views in all directions. We will meet at Sawmill Meadows Campsite Friday evening and be prepared to hike to the top of Glass Mountain on the first day and to another mountain on the rim of the caldera on the second day. Before leaving the last morning we we climb a small rhyolite knob that is near the campsite.
