June 25 – 28, 2011 Stillwater Rampart Falls

On the first day a way to get around Ramparts Falls requiring going over a steep ridge of loose rocky soil was found. The next day a route was worked out to get to Stillwater Crest then along the crest and down a complex route to Hare Canyon and then back to the trailhead.

We set out to find an easy route to a huge plateau that forms the vertical south wall of Mopah Springs bowl. I call it Turtle Mountain Mesa. It is almost completely surrounded by vertical cliffs. Some searching found an easy way. There was a grand view even though we did not get all the way to the top of the south rim.
